Introduction to Feng Shui bamboo

Feng shui is something that is an ancient Chinese tradition and it involves arrangement and placement of belongings and space, with the goal being to achieve a balance with the environment.  An ancient Chinese philosophy had the belief that there had to be balance between yin, which was the feminine and yang, which was the masculine.  It also is something that is used in Chinese medicine.  For example, balance in sour and salty, or balance in cold and hot.  Polarity in feng Shui also is related to finding the balance between spaces of the living, which are the yin and the dead which are the yang.  It is also important to create balance between the movements of man and the elements of nature.

When everything is lined up with feng shui, a person’s energy, or their chi, to flow freely.  Although feng shui has a spiritual aspect, it has a practical practice that is shown to align with the sciences of engineering and architecture.  Feng shui practitioners consider things like astronomy, weather and space, and if they are very advanced, they also consider geomagnetism and gravity.

To put it in laymen’s terms, it deals with the creation of spaces that inspire, relax, or increase energy, and this is dependant upon what the space is designed to do.  You wouldn’t use the same feng shui principals in your office that you would use in the bedroom, and vice versa.
